Since 2025, Murmuration has had a subsidiary in Barcelona. France and Spain are major tourism markets, under strong tourism pressure, with growing strain on natural resources and increasing exposure to climate change.
From Barcelona, our Spanish team helps destinations measure their environmental carrying capacity and manage their territory efficiently and sustainably.
Our story in Spain started in the Canary Islands: at the end of 2024, Turismo Lanzarote entrusted us with an observatory of the island, combining climate projections, air quality and beach water quality.
A few weeks later, at FITUR in Madrid, our solution won the Smart Destinations Awards for environmental sustainability. In 2025, Murmuration opened its Barcelona subsidiary to be closer to Spanish destinations.

For Spanish destinations, we build environmental observatories that combine satellite data, climate projections and field measurements, available in Spanish, English and French.
Since 2026, the ECCT measures their environmental safety margin along 5 dimensions: air, water, vegetation, biodiversity and tourism pressure. Comparing areas of a territory helps balance tourist flows across it.
